Furniture domestic sale increase decreased 1/3 in Guangdong

2012 Guangdong Furniture Industry Operation Analysis Conference was held on 2nd Aug. According to statistics released during the conference, increase of both domestic sale and exporting sale was lower than the average increase in recent 5 years, of which the domestic sale increase was about 1/3 lower than the average increase in recent 3 years. Chief officer Wang ke of Guangdong Furniture Association said that, the 1st half of 2012 was the bottom point of furniture industry in recent 5 years in Guangdong.

According to statistics, total furniture sales reached RMB106billion from Jan to June in Guangdong, up 8.2% compared with 2011. Of the above, domestic sales amount was RMB56.5billion, up 10% compared with 2011. In comparison with the average annual increase of 16.3% during the past 5 years, the increase dropped about 1/3.

With reference to Customs data, total furniture export transaction reached $7.51billion from Jan to June in Guangdong, up 4.4% compared with the amount of $7.19billion in 2011, much lower than the national increase of 5.63%.

With governmental policy on real estate industry and consumer’s lack of confidence, furniture sales in first-class cities was quite unsatisfactory. Total industry output of scaled furniture enterprises nationwide was RMB259.018billion from Jan to June, up 16.7% year on year. Total industry output of scaled furniture enterprises in Guangdong was RMB50.415billion from Jan to June, up 7.7% year on year
