The Ministry of Health published the food safety national standard – “MRL of Pathogen in Food” (draft), to collect public opinion till 15th November.

It was learnt pathogen MRL in food is new in China and it is also an important component in the basic standards of food safety standards. The latest standard has combed 562 standards, of which 140 national ones and 422 others.

The categorization is based on GB2760, but there are stipulations on 9 types of food including meat products, aquatic products, instant food egg products, grain and cereal products, chocolate and coca products, instant food of processed fruits and vegetables, soft drinks and frozen soft drinks, instant food seasonings and nut products according to the features of the pathogens and based on the production technique.

The frequent food safety incidents have pricked the nerve of the public and the supervisory authorities have made up their mind to strictly enforce law and supervision. More rules and regulations are projected in the future, whereas it is urgent to improve the law enforcement level and to build up the law enforcement system.
