Soybean imports registered 4.966 million MT in September and 44.3 million MT in January ~ September, up 20.3% and 17.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Soybean imports are predicted to be 57.5 million MT in 2012, an increase of 9.3% on the year-on-year basis.

    Rapeseed imports were 185,000 MT in September and 2.032 million MT in January ~ September, up 34.7% and 202% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Rapeseed imports are predicted to be 3 million MT in 2012/2013, suggesting an import dependence ratio of 20%.

    Palm oil imports were 532,000 MT in September, 16.2% more than the month before but 7.3% less than the same period of last year. Palm oil imports totaled 4.095 million MT in January ~ September, a drop of 1.7% on the year-on-year basis. Considering a large palm oil stock in China at present, the nation’s monthly palm oil imports may stay between 550,000 MT and 600,000 MT in the next few months.
