Grain Imports & Exports in April

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-06-04 11:15:56China Agriculture Report Print According to the customs, China’s grain imports and exports were 1.122 million MT and 56,922 MT respectively in April, up 12.52% but down 20.22% respectively against the month before, up 12.55% and 12 times respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Grain imports consisted of 203,300 MT wheat, 301,100 MT rice, 419,400 MT corn and 197,800 MT barley. Grain exports consisted of 54,014 MT rice, 2,576 MT corn and 332 MT barley.
 
Processed grain product imports and exports recorded 23,185 MT and 47,961 MT respectively in April, down 24.64% but up 1.47% respectively against the month before, up 38.25% and 16.11% respectively on the year-on-year basis. The imports equaled to 35,670 MT raw grains and the exports 73,789 MT.
 
Processed grain product imports consisted of 22,183 MT denatured starch, 927 MT flour and 76 MT starch. The exports consisted of 28,715 MT flour, 7,775 MT starch and 11,471 MT denatured starch.
 
Due to a big grain price difference between China and the international market, grain importers enjoyed a substantial profit. Corn import price was $291/MT (CIF) in April, 37% cheaper than the Chinese corn. Nearly all the imported corn came from the USA.
