Pesticide Export Hit New Record

In May, Chinese crude pesticide import was 5,244 tons, up 25.2% over last year and down 32.1% over last month. In the first 5 months, total pesticide import hit 35,639 tons, up 6.9%, a bit narrower than earlier time. This includes wholesaled fungicide 12,465 tons, retailed herbicide 8,903 tons and wholesaled herbicide 4,351 tons respectively, the three varieties above accounted for 72.2% of total import, up 0.8% over last year.
 
In May, Chinese crude pesticide export hit 109,010 tons, up 37.7% over last year and up 6.1% over last month, including retailed herbicide 32,264 tons and wholesaled herbicide 43,338 tons, up 133.5% and 16.5% respectively. In the first 5 months of 2013, pesticide export hit a history-high 497,000 tons, up 27.5%. The proportion of herbicide (retailed and wholesaled) was 361,000 tons, accounting for 72.7% of total export, and that of insecticide was 71,000 tons, which went down to 14.4% from 17.5% in 2012.
 
In May, FOB price of wholesaled insecticide, fungicide and herbicide was 4,299 dollars, 4,706 dollars and 3,090 dollars. Insecticide and fungicide both declined over last month, while herbicide went up slightly.
