Major Grain Product Imports & Exports in July

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-09-09 13:44:06China Agriculture Report Print According to the customs, China’s imports of major grains registered 686,700 MT in July, 15.16% more than the month before but 48.12% less than the same period of last year. Grain imports consisted of 308,700 MT wheat, 141,300 MT rice, 72,700 MT corn and 163,900 MT barley, 22.77% more, 23.32% less, 98.52% less but 29.52% more than the same period of last year respectively.
 
Corn import price was RMB2,107/MT (tariff included) in July, far below the domestic market price.
 
Grain exports were 26,024 MT in July, 6.82% more than the month before. Grain exports consisted of 587 MT wheat, 24,112 MT rice, 1,167 MT corn and 167 MT barley. Grain exports were hindered by domestic high price.
 
Non-state-run companies almost used up their quotas.
 
Processed grain product imports were 30,048 MT in July, 26.95% more than the month before and 35.81% more than the same period of last year. The imports consisted of 27,554 MT denatured starch, 2,390 MT flour and 103 MT starch.
 
Processed grain product exports were 38,031 MT in July, 3.53% more than the month before and 14.01% more than the same period of last year. The exports consisted of 20,931 MT flour, 5,226 MT starch and 11,874 MT denatured starch.
 
Grain and processed grain product imports and exports registered 733,000 MT and 85,000 MT respectively in July, in terms of raw grains, down 46.02% but up 25.14% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Grain imports totaled 5.954 million MT in January ~ July, a slip of 30.8% on the year-on-year basis. Of the total, 1.706 million MT were wheat, 1.458 million MT rice and 1.594 million MT corn.
