Ministry of Agriculture: Provide 100 million yuan to Build Vegetables Bases in Eight Provinces
By CnAgri2014-01-16 09:37:38 PrintCurrently, the supply of vegetables in China is sufficient and varieties are abundant. But the seasonal and regional supply and demand balance issues still remain prominent. According to the research of MOA, local supply of fresh vegetables in Spring and Winter at Lanzhou, Gansu and Taiyuan, Shanxi only accounts for 20% of the total supply, and less than 5% in Harbin. In order to solve this issue, government must consider the layout of vegetables actual output and supply in China, encourage winter facility vegetables in northern cities, meanwhile continue to enhance base building where vegetables are aiming to be transported to northern China, to improve urgency supply and self-supply capabilities.
According to MOA, in order to solve winter vegetables supply issue, MOA will provide 100 million yuan to build 8 pilot winter vegetable bases in Northeast, Huabei and Northwest regions. Each pilot city will build standard facility vegetables base which is over 160 hectares.
