BOABC summarized China breeding pig imports in 2013 as follows:

In 2013, China breeding pig imports continued raising to 19,945 heads, up 12.12% on year-on-year basis and the average price was USD1949/head, down 7.71% on year-on-year basis. The importing price was dragged down due to the downturn of China pig breeding industry and fierce competition in China market.

Breeding pigs imported from America declined in 2013. Its market share declined to 46% in 2013 from 58% in 2012, but it still ranked the first. The rest 54% market is shared by Canadian, French and Danish breeding pigs, of which, Canadian breeding pigs saw significant increase. British breeding pigs were fully replaced by Danish breeding pigs in 2013.
