The 1st China-Germany Biogas Cooperation Working Group Meeting was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on November 1, 2012. The delegations of the two sides were respectively led by Wang Yanliang, DDG of the MOA Department of Science, Technology and Education and Head of Agricultural Ecology & Resource Protection Center, andNewman, DG of Germany Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. Liu Yingjie, DDG of the MOA Department of International Cooperation chaired the Meeting.

The two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation activities, and reached consensus on the following three points: first, in light of the progressive, realistic and "nonexclusive" principles, China and Germany should carry out collaboration under the framework of the signed MOU on Strengthening Biogas Cooperation, and invite other research institutes and enterprises to participate. Second, in principle, the Working Group Meeting should be held annually, and the next meeting is scheduled to be convened in Germany in the summer of 2013. Third, the two sides should continue the 2013-2014 work plan consultation, which is expected to be signed in January 2013.

In August, the two Ministries signed the MOU on Strengthening Biogas Cooperation with the witness of the Chinese Premier and German Chancellor. As a concrete follow-up measure to implement the MOU, this Meeting is of great significance to enhance mutual understanding and trust for both sides in future cooperation.

Other delegates to the Meeting included representatives from MOA Department of International Cooperation, Agricultural Ecology & Resource Protection Center, Biogas Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Engineering, China Biogas Society, Northwest A&F University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China University of Petroleum, Beijing DQY Agriculture Technology CO. Ltd, and Chengdu Hongqi Group, etc.
