Record soybean sown area in Argentina: 18.96 million hectares
By CnAgri Print According to a report by Buenos Aires Cereal Stock Exchange, total soy production in Argentina reached 48.5 million tons, obtained thanks to a historical sowing record estimated in 19.7 million hectares, out of which 18.96 million were harvested (the rest could not be picked due to different climate conditions).In terms of productivity, the national average yield at the end of the campaign is 25.6 qq/ha, which is slightly lower than the average collected during the last thirteen campaigns and is 4.2 qq/ha lower than the historical maximum yield (average yield 2006/7 campaign: 29.8 qq/ha).
The 48.5 million tons of soy account for a year-over-year increase of 21.6 %, but which still lies below the historical record attained during 2009/10 campaign, of 55 million tons.
