The Trade War between China and the US Escalates with Raised Tariffs

On September 17 (Eastern Time), Trump announced a 10% tariff on the Chinese imports worth US$200 billion (including more than 200 varieties of fruits and vegetables) which officially went into effect on September 24 and will be raised to 25% on January 1, 2019. Subsequently, the tariff committee of the State Council decided to impose 10% or 5% tariffs on 5,207 tariff items worth about US$60 billion of goods produced in the United States.
