From September 2018 to April 2019, the monthly index for China’s raw milk production surged for eight consecutive months, setting new highs for the past five years, according to the monitoring by licensed raw milk collection stations nationwide.
In May 2019, as the result of heat stress, raw milk production index was 108.89, a month-by-month fall of 0.4%.
In June, the index further fell to 107.7, 1.1% lower month-by-month.
According to a survey, the effect of  heat stress is most serious in July and August in the main producing regions such as Hebei and Shandong. Raw milk production is about 15% lower than in March and April as the result of heat stress. The index is expected to decline further in July and August.
