As the central authorities continued to release frozen pork from its reserves this week, the May Day holiday had little support to pig prices, which further declined. The pig price gap between the North and the South enlarged continuously. Residents prefer to eat lean pork in summer, but there are many hogs bigger than the standard on the market. Slaughterhouses were forcing prices down, without any purchasing difficulties. It’s expected that pig prices will decline continuously in the coming week.
