Broiler Market Sluggish in China

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2012-07-05 09:49:31China Agriculture Report Print

Broiler market was drowsy in the first half of this year. Broiler procurement price averaged RMB8.5/kg in June, a slip of 17.07% on the year-on-year basis.

BOABC anticipates a moderate recovery of broiler market in the second half of this year. Normally broiler epidemics are less serious in July ~ October. Broiler consumption swells around the Moon Festival and the National Day. The government has started to loosen currency control in an attempt to boost economy, conducive to poultry consumption.

On the other hand, broiler price is subdued by some factors: The current huge broiler stock may take two or three months to digest. The macro-economy is not so healthy, having an impact on broiler consumption. Pork and egg price is expected to go steady in the second half of this year, which may curb broiler price.
