Thai Cane and Sugar Office announced the Government had amended the quota of sugar sales amount in the country in 2012 to 2.3 million tons, 100,000 tons less from the previous target. This decision was made according to the current stock level of sugar plants.

Thailand produced 10.25 million tons sugar in the campaign, whereas the shrinkage of the domestic sales means more sugar shall enter the international market, which shall bring further pressure to the international price level.
