Farm Product Imports & Exports in April

According to the customs, China’s farm product import and export value registered $9.7 billion and $5.64 billion respectively in April, creating a deficit of $4.06 billion, up 5.3%, up 13.5% but down 4.2% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Farm product import and export value accounted for 5.74% and 3% of the nation’s total import and export value respectively.
Of the total farm product imports, grains, soybeans and tuber crops registered 6.08 million MT, valuing $3.11 billion, down 8.7% and 4.6% respectively on the year-on-year basis. They included 1.15 million MT grains, 3.98 million MT soybeans and 950,000 MT others, up 14%, down 18.4% but up 23.4% respectively. Of other grains, tapioca registered 860,000 MT, mainly brought in from Thailand, Vietnam and Burma.
