Pork Price Rebounded This Week

Pork: On May 29th, in the pork wholesale markets of the 36 medium-and-large sized cities, the average price of pig carcass was RMB18.82Yuan/KG, up 0.91% compared with last week. For this week, the price of live hog was RMB13.09Yuan/KG, up 1.95% compared with last week. Pork price rebounded slightly this week and slaughter price for live hog saw both increase and decrease and generally increase slightly. With start of second round of pork reserve, domestic hog market rebounde from bottom. Some breeding farmers are reluctant to sell with confidence in later market and slaughterhouses should raise price to purchase. According to BOABC, however, domestic inventory of live hog kept at high level and pork consumption enters slack season, so the favorable supports by policy were temporary.
