Farm Product Imports in June

Farm product imports and exports valued $9.37 billion and $5.24 billion respectively in June, creating a trade deficit of $4.13 billion, down 1.3%, up 4.8% but down 8.02% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Farm product import value accounted for 6.37% of the nation’s total import value in June and farm product export value 3% of the nation’s total export value.
 
The import volume and value of grains, tuber crops and soybeans were 8.11 million MT and $4.49 billion in June, up 9.3% and 14.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis, both reaching a record high level.
 
Of the farm product imports, 660,000 MT were grains, 6.93 million MT soybeans and 520,000 MT others (such as tapioca), 42% less, 23.3% more but 22.4% less than the same period of last year respectively. They were brought in at $365/MT, $589/MT and $307/MT respectively, up 10.9%, up 0.1% but down 9.7% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
