China carries out anti-dumping investigation on Brazil’s white broiler products, which will lead to price growth of re

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2017-08-29 09:27:41China Agriculture Report Print China Animal Agriculture Association, on the behalf of domestic white broiler industrial association, submitted an application on June 28, 2017, thinks that Brazil has exported white broiler products to China at prices that are lower than normal prices and this action had caused actual damage to domestic broiler industry, so asks for the preliminary investigation. The Ministry of Commerce of P. R. C. conducts the antidumping investigation upon white broiler products imported from Brazil, and this investigation is started from August 18, 2018, normally would be ended before August 18, 2018, and may be prolonged to February 18, 2019 in particular cases.
In 2016, China imported 569,000 tons chicken and chicken entrails, of which, 487,000 tons came from Brazil, accounting for 85.6% of the total imports. In 2016, China’s consumption of white broiler products was about 7.1 million tons, so imports accounted for about 8% of the total consumption.
We think that if China levy anti-dumping duties on Brazil white broiler products, the import prices of these products would increase sharply and the import volume will decline significantly, so domestic chicken supply may be insufficient in a short term and the profits of slaughterhouses and farmers will increase. In the long run, as the imports of chicken products accounted for less than 10% of the consumption, the development of white broiler industry is dominated by domestic demand and supply pattern.
