China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2018-07-18 14:05:31China Agriculture Report Print The government advocates “large-scale farming, centralized slaughtering, cold chain distribution, and marketing of chilled chicken” in yellow broiler industry. Live chicken trading markets in medium and large cities have been closed down successively, and restrictions on live poultry trading and transportation are increasing, but yellow broiler consumption in China is still dominated by live chickens.
85% of yellow broilers in China are sold in live chicken form, the rest 15% are sold through slaughtering and processing. Chicken products after slaughtering and processing are basically sold in the form of whole chicken, including chilled chicken, room-temperature processed chicken products, and less frozen chickens.

Farmer's market and catering are the main circulation channels of yellow broilers in China, accounting for 51% and 23% respectively, and live broilers slaughtered and processed only make up 15%. Chilled, frozen, and deep-processed yellow broilers are mainly sold through exports, farmer’s market, and supermarkets, which account for 45%, 20% and 15% respectively.
From the point of view of sales modes, distribution is mainly used for catering and farmer's market, and direct selling is mainly for supermarkets, specialty stores, online stores and exports.
However, the turnover of live poultry will gradually decrease in the future, and chilled chicken will be the development trend of the yellow broiler industry.
