A former Extension dairy and livestock agent from Dodge County, Wisconsin, will be taking over the reigns at World Dairy Expo on a temporary basis. Bob Kaiser of Horicon, who has retired from his job earlier this year, has been named the interim general manager of WDE and WDE Management--the group that manages the Dane County Fair, North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge, Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation and the Purebred Dairy Cattle Association.

Bob has been involved with the dairy industry for the past 32 years. He first joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Extension in 1981, then serving as an agent in Lincoln County. After moving to the Madison area, he started volunteering at WDE in 1988 and was eventually named Ayrshire Breed Superintendent in 2001. Five years ago, he was promoted as the show's overall Dairy Cattle Superintendent, until he stepped down last year.

"I am honored to accept this new responsibility," Kaiser said. "Staff members are dedicated and truly function as a team. All of us at WDE consider it a privilege to represent the various boards with which we work."

WDE Board President Mike Holschbach says Kaiser's history with World Dairy Expo as a key volunteer coupled with his people skills will help bridge the transition until the new manager is selected. A search committee is currently in the process of finalizing job position details and will unveil the permanent general manager application process soon, Holschbach said.

Kaiser replaces Mark Clarke, who was recently named the new executive director of Dane County's Alliant Energy Center--which is the home facility for WDE.
