BOABC Viewpoint: It’s expected that the production of yellow broilers will increase by about 15% in 2019.

Affected by the outbreak of H7N9, the circulation of live yellow broilers was blocked, the consumption declined significantly, and the production of yellow broilers dropped to 3.608 billion birds in 2017. However, the benefits of raising yellow broilers increased greatly in 2018, and the production of yellow broilers rose to 3.981 billion birds. In 2019, due to the outbreak of African swine fever, the consumption of yellow broilers increased. It’s expected that the production of yellow broilers will rise by about 15% to more than 4.5 billion birds.
 
In China, yellow broiler production is mainly concentrated in south China, east China, central China, and the Southwest. The production of Guangdong, Guangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Sichuan respectively accounts for 25%, 20%, 11%, 11%, and 10% of the national total.
 
1) Breeding birds: the inventory of parental breeding birds of yellow broilers in Guangdong sees little change, remaining about 11 million sets. Compared with Guangdong, the growth in the number of breeding birds is significant in Guangxi. It’s predicted that the inventory of parental breeders of yellow broilers will reach 15 million sets in 2019, an increase of 20% from 2018.
 
2) Commercial broilers: It’s predicted that the production of yellow broilers will be about 1.1 billion birds in 2019, a growth of 10-15% from 2018. The production of yellow broilers in Guangxi is estimated to reach 1 billion birds in 2019, increasing by about 20% from 2018.
 
3) Enterprises: It’s expected that Wens Group’s production capacity of yellow broilers in 2019 will rise by 10-15% from 2018. The production capacity of yellow broilers of Lihua in 2019 is predicted to increase by 15% from 2018.
