Glyphosate Price Steady Amid Insecticide Increase in China

There is general increase for insecticides in April and May, both price and sales volume. Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui and Hubei went up by over 10% compared with lest year, Chlorpyrifos, Imidacloprid, Monosultap, Trichlorfon, Phoxim and Isoprocarb were the most prominent varieties.

The main drives for insecticide price increase was high production cost and insufficient market supply. Take Chlorpyrifos as example, with the increase of its main material, o,o-diethyl Thiophosphoryl Chloride, mill price of Chlorpyrifos went to 41,000 Yuan per ton, up by 500 to 1,000 Yuan over March. Besides, the operation was so low, only 9 out of 20 enterprises keeps normal production, as a result of this, market supply became insufficient.

It is leap April in lunar Chinese calendar, which means double April, so usage season was delayed compared with previous years. With the coming of booming season, domestic sales would see a further increase. As a result, oversupply would be more prominent, which will push insecticide price continue to go upwards.

On the other hand, although material price was instable, glyphosate price remains steady. Deal price of glyphosate with glycine processing was 25,000 to 25,300 Yuan per ton, and mainstream FOB price was 3,980 dollars to 4,000 dollars, while FOB price with IDA processing was 4,100 to 4,300 dollars. Glyphosate sales have come into dull season now, enterprises tend to overhaul, and arrange production according to purchase orders, so glyphosate price are expected to remain steady.
