According to the customs, China imported 193,000 MT fresh and frozen poultry meat and offal in January ~ June this year, a slip of 11.37% on the year-on-year basis. Of the total, 61,200 MT were frozen chicken wings and 60,300 MT frozen feet, 1.41% and 44.73% less than the same period of last year respectively.

China’s top five poultry meat importers handled 26% of imports. Poultry meat imports mostly came from Brazil, the USA, Argentina, Chile, France, South Korea and Poland.

Causes for decreased poultry meat imports included declining poultry meat price in the domestic market and slowing-down of poultry meat consumption with the slowdown of economy.
