The Prices of Vegetables in December Indicated Upward Trend

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-01-04 11:31:29China Agriculture Report Print     According to the agricultural products and materials price monitoring system of News Agency, since December, the vegetables pricing has indicated an upward trend. The average prices of 21 varieties of vegetables indicated upward trend. In comparison with prices on November 1st, The daily average prices of 21 monitored vegetables increased by 28.3% on December 20th. In terms of varieties, the price of carrots dropped by 2.1%. The prices of rest of 20 varieties of vegetables all increased. The prices of rape, romaine lettuce, string beans, cucumber, eggplant, bitter melon and cowpea experienced significant increase between 40% and 65%. The prices of scallion, garlic and ginger increased between 5% and 10%.
 
    The climate doesn’t favor the growth of vegetables with the weather turning cold, less sunshine and low temperature. In the future, the extreme weather might affect the vegetables logistics, leading to tight supply of some regions. New Year and Spring Festival are coming, and there are more unexpected factors to affect the market price. It is predicated that the prices of vegetables in the future indicated will show an upward trend.
