Beer Production and Barley Balance Sheet in April

By CnAgri2013-05-28 11:26:18 Print Beer production was estimated to be 4.609 million kiloliters in April and 14.332 million kiloliters in January ~ April, up 10.7% and 9.36% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Barley consumption for beef production was estimated to e 323,000 MT in April. Barley consumption for various uses was estimated to be 425,000 MT in April. Barley inventory was 1.176 million MT at the end of April, suggesting a monthly consumption index of 2.77.
 
Barley imports totaled 2.044 million MT between May of 2012 and April of 2013. Barley consumption is estimated to be 4.613 million MT in 2012/2013. Barley inventory is predicted to be 1.105 million MT at the end of 2012/2013, suggesting a safety index of 23.86%.
 
Barley price was RMB1,971/MT in April and RMB1,992/MT between May of 2012 and April of 2013, down 16.38% and 6.19% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
In the 2013/2014 crop year, barley acreage, production and imports are predicted to be 637,000 hectares, 2.056 million MT and 2.453 million MT respectively. Barley consumption is expected to increase to 3.477 million MT with the growth of beer consumption. Barley price is predicted to go up 10% to a level of RMB2,196/MT.
