Blend Oil Explicitly Requested to Mark Proportion of Each Veg Oil
By CnAgri2013-12-19 09:38:51 PrintRecently, draft of Edible Veg Oil issued by National Health and Family Planning Commission included “edible veg blend oil” into its application scope and explicitly requested to mark proportion of each veg oil. National standard Edible Veg Oil has begun to take advice publicly.
The current national standard of 8 edible veg oil such as soybean oil, peanut oil and corn oil has been implemented since October 2004, which explicitly requests such information as grade, producing crafts and origin of raw materials should be marked on the packaging. But the regulation has no binding force for blend oil. Therefore, most manufacturers choose low-cost veg oil as the major ingredients of blend oil and
veg blend oil’s formula has become highly commercial secret.
It has long been criticized that no proportions of ingredients were marked in the blend oil label. In March 2013, China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment held seminar on Food Safety National Standard Edible Veg Oil and Food Safety National Standard Edible Veg Blend Oil, in which the two standards were proposed to be combined as Food Safety National Standard Edible Veg Oil.
Currently, the new standard is taking advice from whole society and the deadline in on Jan. 30th, 2014.
