Generalization of China Pork Imp & Exp in 2013

Despite the low pork price in 2013 in China, China’s pork import still hit a record. In 2013, China imported 583,200 tons of fresh, chilled and frozen pork, increasing by 11.69% year on year, mainly from America, Germany, Spain, Canada and Denmark. For China Inspection and Quarantine department strengthened restrictions on ractopamine, the market share of American pork in China’s market declined obviously, from 36% in 2012 to 20% in 2013, which is slightly ahead of Germany and maintained the first place. Some product forms are as table 1.

Five enterprises, including Tianjin Yaxuan International Trade Co., Ltd., are China’s top five enterprises in terms of import volume of fresh, chilled and frozen Pork in 2013.  These five enterprises occupied 20% of the market share in total.

In terms of export, China exported 73,000 tons of fresh, chilled and frozen pork in 2013, up by 10.61% year on year, mainly to Hong Kong, Macao and Kirghizia. And the export volume to these three regions accounted for 93% of China’s total export volume. For some export forms, see table 3.

Among the export enterprises of fresh, chilled and frozen pork, five enterprises, including Yunnan Yuxi Baixin Food Import &Export Co., Ltd., are the top five pork export enterprises and their market share was about 38%.
