Environmental protection supervision is very strict nationwide. The enterprises without environmental permit are required to stop production; the enterprises with environmental permit but not up to standard need to restructured within a definite time. Environmental protection supervision has greatly influenced the whole wood industry especially board.

 

70% of the domestic board is found in Langfang, Xingtai, Heze, Linyi, Shuyang, of which  more than 90% is processed by small and medium enterprises and family workshops. For example, nearly 3,000 board mills have been told to shut down in Wenan county of Langfang city, Hebei province; more than 95% of the enterprises have shut down in Linyi city of Shandong province; plenty of primary processing board factories were shut down in Dezhou of Shandong province; the wood-working factories are required to stop production from August 29 to September 15 in Lanshan district of Rizhao city, Shandong province.

 

The inaction and arbitrary conducts of the environmental protection have a serious impact on normal production and life in various regions. On August 23, Linyi Wood Association submitted the suggestions of Linyi’s wood enterprises returning to work to the municipal government.

 

The enterprises that are unable to upgrade to reach the standard are required to completely shut down at the end of September to October. Meanwhile, the National People's Congress has approved the environmental protection tax law and environmental tariff will begin on January 1, 2018. BOABC believes that as environmental situation tends to be more serious, small and medium enterprises’ capacity will continue to eliminated, wood products’ output is bound to be affected; the costs of environmental protection equipment will increase at the same time, a price growth will also be inevitable, wood industry enterprises should be prepared as soon as possible.
