The sorghum import increased largely

In recent years, the price rising of corn stimulated other alternative materials’ use in feed, and sorghum was one of the alternative materials. Through analysis the import data of sorghum, BOABC found that, sorghum import presented explosive growth trend. For details: in 2011, China imported 50 tons sorghum from Myanmar, and since 2012, China begun import sorghum from Australia, and at that time the import volume increased to 86,600 tons. Only one year later, the imported volume sharply rise to 1.08 million tons, among that, 760,000 tons were from Australia and the rest 320,000 tons were from America. Furthermore, in Jan. – July, 2014, the sorghum imported volume up to 2.42 million tons, while America based on the price advantage becoming the largest importer of Chinese sorghum.
