Currently, poultry breeding face the challenges of food safety, environment protection, cost rise and great fluctuation of prices. As financial capital pours into excellent and strong poultry enterprises constantly, poultry enterprises will further expand scale, enhance science and technology strength and brand influence, and can better confront above four challenges. In the future, poultry breeding will develop to four following directions:
1)     Large scale, highly intensive and non-pollution breeding can effectively solve poultry products supply problem
Enterprises with relatively large size and strong strength adopt large scale, highly intensive and non-pollution breeding which features high management, emphasizing epidemic situation control and food safety, enhanced environmental awareness, high degree of modernization and lower cost and can effectively solve poultry products supply problem.
2)     Small scale decentralized ecological breeding meets animal welfare requirements and has high premium
Using vacant barren mountains, waste slope, forest, etc. to conduct small scale free-range breeding and standardized production or sideline-type breeding by farmers, and make chicken eat insect and grass of the nature, less feed or no feed. This breeding mode meets animal welfare requirements, is favored by some consumers, and has high premium.
3)     Combining planting and breeding and promoting sustainable development of breeding industry
Powerful enterprises can adopt the mode integrating planting, breeding, processing and selling, the biggest advantage of this mode is that it can better solve excrement problem. Excrement produced in farms can directly be used as manure after innocent treatment and raises output of planting industry, and feed and forage grass produced in planting industry also can be used in breeding industry, which realizes sustainable development of breeding industry.
4)     Agriculture and tourism integration has development opportunity.
Integration of agriculture and tourism is an emerging breeding mode and has development opportunity. With the increase of inhabitants’ income level and changes of consumption patterns, leisure agriculture and rural tourism has huge development potential. If combining rural tourism and poultry breeding, it sure will have good development prospects.
