Pesticide Output Polarization Intensified in China

Chinese pesticide output hit 1.811m tons in the first 6 months of 2012, up 20.6%, including 323,000 tons in June, up 14.1% over last year and 5.9% over last month. The polarization in pesticide output intensified further.

In June, herbicide output was 135,000 tons, up 32.4% over last year and down 11.2% over last month. Insecticide and fungicide output was 74,000 tons and 13,000 tons, down by 1.3% and 0.2% over same time last year. In the first 6 months, insecticide, fungicide and herbicide output was 402,000 tons, 72,000 tons and 786,000 tons, up by -6.3%, -7.9% and 39.6%, which accounted for 22.2%, 4.0% and 43.4% of total output respectively, with herbicide up by 5.9%.

Besides, output of growth regulator, bio-pesticide added up to 551,000 tons, accounting for 30.4% of total, up 1.7% over last year.
