Ethanol Import Tariff to Be Slashed in 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2012-12-27 10:59:49China Agriculture Report Print      China’s ethanol imports increased rapidly in the last few years, from 130,000 liters in 2009 to 5.145 million liters in 2011. But ethanol imports slipped 38.6% in January ~ October, 2012, on the year-on-year basis, falling to a level of 3.046 million liters.
 
    To curb corn consumption for ethanol production and encourage ethanol imports, the government has decided to reduce ethanol MFN import tariff from 30% to 5% in 2013. This policy is expected to boost ethanol imports next year.
