Feed Production & Corn Consumption in December of 2012

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-01-29 11:16:23China Agriculture Report Print Feed production by medium and large mills registered 20.488 million MT in December, 3.1% more than the month before and 8.18% more than the same period of the previous year. Feed production consisted of 18.406 million MT compound feed, 1.536 million MT condensed feed and 547,000 MT premixed feed in December. Compound feed mills ran at 66.42% of their capacity in December.
 
11.043 million MT corn was consumed by medium and large mills and 11.41 million MT by mills of various scales in December.
 
Feed production totaled 217.8 million MT in 2012, an increase of 14.26% on the year-on-year basis. Feed production consisted of 197 million MT compound feed, 16.082 million MT condensed feed and 5.188 million MT premixed feed in 2012. Feed mills consumed about 120 million MT corn in 2012.
 
The promulgated figures showed a feed production increase of 13.1% in December and 17.4% in 2012, both on the year-on-year basis.
 
3.408 million MT other energy feed was consumed by feed mills in December and 37.736 million MT in 2012.
 
7.708 million MT protein feed was consumed by feed mills in December and 78.802 million MT in 2012.
 
Oilseed meal production was estimated to be 8.924 million MT in December and 84.4 million MT in 2012.
 
Grain by-product production was estimated to be 15.108 million MT in December, including 2.709 million MT bran and wheat middling, 1.903 million MT rice husk and broken rice, 1.36 million MT corn bran and protein powder, 40,000 MT beer dregs, etc.
 
Grain by-product production was about 146 million MT in 2012, including 26.77 million MT bran and wheat middling, 18.3 million MT rice husk and broken rice, 16.22 million MT corn bran and protein powder, 617,000 MT beer dregs, etc.
 
Corn production was 208 million MT in 2012. Corn consumption for various uses was 17.015 million MT in December. Corn inventory was 170 million MT at the end of December, suggesting a stock/consumption ratio of 10.01.
 
Corn price was RMB2,393/MT in December, up 3.53% on the year-on-year basis. Corn price averaged RMB2,431/MT in August ~ December and may be RMB2,390/MT in 2012/2013. Considering improved corn supply, corn price is predicted to drop after the Spring Festival of this year.
