Urban Flour Consumption in 3rd Quarter of 2012

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-03-04 10:26:02China Agriculture Report Print According to the National Bureau of Statistics, urban flour consumption volume and value registered 1.878 million MT and RMB6.88 billion in the third quarter of 2012, up 8.8% and 7.91% respectively over the previous quarter, up 2.28% and 4.52% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Liaoning and Heilongjiang ranked top six in flour consumption, whose consumption volume was 215,600 MT, 208,000 MT, 206,200 MT, 168,700 MT, 131,700 MT and 109,600 MT respectively, down 8.12%, up 4.14%, up 8.74%, down 4.61%, up 2.14% but down 4.85% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Their consumption jointly accounted for 55.3% of the nation’s total.
 
Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Liaoning, Henan and Heilongjiang ranked top six in terms of flour consumption value, whose value was RMB733 million, RMB665 million, RMB634 million, RMB553 million, RMB542 million and RMB433 million respectively, down 5.15%, up 0.49%, up 9.75%, up 4.41%, down 0.93% and down 2.62% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Their consumption value jointly accounted for 51.9% of the nation’s total.
 
Flour price averaged RMB3.66/kg in the third quarter, down 0.82% from the previous quarter but up 2.19% on the year-on-year basis. The top prices were RMB5.77/kg in Guangdong, RMB5.4/kg in Hainan and RMB5.31/kg in Shanghai.
 
Urban flour consumption volume and value were 5.457 million MT and RMB20.123 billion in January ~ September, down 2.16% but up 2.04% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
