Demand for Timber Surged in United States and ASEAN

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-05-10 10:59:51China Agriculture Report Print All these factors like growth of investment in housing and non-residential constructions, low housing quality, price increase and high operating rate show that U.S. housing market is recovering, which also stimulates consumption and imports of U.S. forest products;  Though some central and northwestern European countries have overcome the economy fluctuation, European economy just stopped falling, so tight finance and credit situation and gloomy construction trend are still the main reasons that cause sluggish condition of timber imports; Japan’s demand for forestry products in the reconstruction after earthquake has reduced gradually. Besides, economy downturn in Japan has more significant influences on imports of forestry products. In addition, since China and ASEAN have established Free Trade Area, bilateral trade in forest products has been significantly promoted and China exports to ASEAN increased 38% in January.
