Cotton & Chemical Fiber Consumption in February

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-03-25 10:38:52China Agriculture Report Print According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s productions of pure cotton yarn, mixed yarn and chemical fiber registered 1.788 million MT, 253,000 MT and 322,000 MT respectively in February, up 1.2%, down 8.3% and down 0.9% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
The productions of the above products registered 3.739 million MT, 561,000 MT and 668,000 MT respectively in January ~ February, up 11.5%, 10.9% and 15% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
The promulgated figures showed their growth rate to be 1.5%, -12.5% and – 2.4% respectively in February and 11.6%, 6% and 13.8% respectively in January ~ February, all on the year-on-year basis.
 
The cotton ratio in the mixed yarn was 79% in February and 78.6% in January ~ February, up 1% but down 0.2% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Yarn mills’ cotton consumption was estimated to be 1.863 million MT in February. Taking into account of 3% waste and 20% reclamation of waste fiber, cotton consumption was 1.536 million MT in February and 3.2 million MT in January ~ February, up 0.8% and 11.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Chemical fiber production was 2.662 million MT in February and 5.93 million MT in January ~ February, down 11.12% but up 3.64% respectively on the year-on-year basis. The production decrease was attributed to the Spring Festival.
 
Terylene and viscous short fiber prices were RMB11,383/MT and RMB14,868/MT respectively in February, down 5.26% and 15.52% respectively on the year-on-year basis. The cotton/terylene and cotton/viscous fiber price ratios were 1.69 and 1.3, up 4.35% and 17.04% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
