China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-10-18 11:36:22China Agriculture Report Print According to the Customs, China’s farm product imports and exports valued $10.43 billion and $5.42 billion respectively in Aug., incurring a deficit of $5.01 billion, up 14.4%, 8% and 22.2% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Farm product import value accounted for 6.43% of the nation’s total import value and farm product export value 2.8% of the nation’s total export value in Aug.
 
Imports of grains, soybeans and tuber crops totaled 7.8 million MT in Aug., valuing $4.35 billion, up 23.4% and 29.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis. The imports consisted of 920,000 MT grains, 6.37 million MT soybeans and 510,000 MT others, down 32%, up 44.1% but down 5.6% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Grains, soybeans and other kinds of grains were brought in at $355/MT, $609/MT and $282/MT respectively, up 6.5%, down 1.5% and down 12.4% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Of the imports of other kinds of grains, 471,000 MT were tapioca, brought at $254/MT, down 7.3% but up 3% respectively on the year-on-year basis. 443,100 MT of them came from Thailand and 28,100 MT from Vietnam.
 
Sorghum imports registered 172,500 MT in Aug., mostly imported from Australia.
