Rising Fish Price in 2013

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the wholesale price of aquatic products in China’s eighty large markets averaged RMB21.01/kg in Jan. ~ Sept., up 7.53% on the year-on-year basis.
 
Seawater aquatic price ran high in summer during the summer fishing moratorium, but declined afterwards. Freshwater aquatic price went up steadily. Grass carp price rose 13.7% in Jan. ~ Aug. on the year-on-year basis. Litopenaeus vannamei price shot up 39.4% in Sept. on the year-on-year basis, attributable to enduring rainy weather and frequent typhoons. Crab price went up 24.6% in Sept. on the year-on-year basis.
 
A few aquatic products’ price went south this year. Soft-shelled turtle price dropped 20.2% in Jan. ~ Sept. on the year-on-year basis.
