China Rice Production & Consumption in Sept. 2013

Deducting repetitive statistics and taking into account of small mills’ production, the nation’s rice production was estimated to be 10.275 million MT in Sept. Taking into account of carryin and 143,000 MT imports, rice supply was 11.455 million MT in Sept.
 
Domestic rice consumption was 10.286 million MT in Sept., including 9.565 million MT for food use, 516,000 MT for feed use and 206,000 MT for industrial uses. Rice exports were 36,400 MT in Sept.
 
Of the rice consumed for food use, 5.628 million MT were consumed by households, 3.734 million MT by restaurants and 204,000 MT by factories for industrial uses. Specifically, 30.49% were consumed by rural households, 24.03% by urban households and 36.17% by restaurants.
 
Japonica and Indica wholesale prices were RMB4,469/MT and RMB3,761/MT respectively in Sept., up 0.28% but down 6.22% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Rice inventory was 1.133 million MT at the end of Sept.
