Flour Production by Province and Wheat Balance Sheet in 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2014-03-11 09:20:19China Agriculture Report Print According to National Bureau of Statistics, wheat consumption for flour production totaled 178 million MT and BOABC adjusted it to 105.6 million MT with consideration of statistical deviation and actual flour demand. In the 10 major producing areas, 99.15 million MT wheat was consumed for flour production, accounting for 93.88%. Wheat consumption registered 19.21 million MT and 41.94 million MT respectively in Shandong and Henan, with the former up 8.74% and the latter up 41.94 million MT.
  
  Based on wheat production and industrial consumption, wheat surplus was 14.47 million MT in 2013, down from last year’s 15.94 million MT. 12 provinces had wheat demand gap, totaling 14.67 million MT, of which, Henan, Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang ranked top 4 with gap of 10.1 million MT, 2.05 million MT, 0.975 million MT and 0.266 million MT respectively. 
  
  Wheat surplus registered 29.13 million MT in the other provinces, which were dispatched to other provinces for flour production or consumed for feed or others. Wheat surplus in 8 provinces exceeded 1 million MT and that in Hebei, Xinjiang and Jiangsu exceeded 3 million MT, registering 6.328 millionMT, 5.72 million MT and 3.059 million MT respectively. Some quality wheat in Hebei and Shandong was delivered to Beijing, Tianjin, SE and SC; surplus wheat in Jiangsu was delivered to Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang; surplus in Sichuan was used for feed and industry consumption and some were delivered to Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan; wheat surplus was huge in Xinjiang and it was difficult for transporting, which restrained sustainable development of local agriculture.
