2017 P-Fertilizer Exports Still Would Show the Decreasing Trend

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2017-03-20 09:07:19China Agriculture Report Print

Although P-fertilizer exports in 2016 continued the loose tariffs of 2015, yet, due to a shrink in demand on the international market, the exports of P-fertilizer products all dropped.

(1) DAP: the exports decreased to 6.798 million MT, down 15.2% year on year; the average export price was 337 US dollars/MT, 121 US dollars/MT less than last year.

(2) MAP: the exports stood at 2.026 million MT, down 26.1% year on year; the average export price was 339 US dollars/MT, 81 US dollars/Mt less than 2016.

(3) TSP: the exports decreased to 0.683 million MT, down 22.1% year on year; the average export price was 262 US dollars/MT, 53 US dollars/MT less than last year.

(4) SSP: the exports went down to 0.736 million MT, down 27.2% year on year; the average export price was 189 US dollars/MT, 32 US dollars/MT less than 2015.

Along with increasing low-cost P-fertilizer capacity on the international market, China’s P-fertilizer exports have no advantage. OCP and Ethiopia signed contract on jointly building 2.5 million MT of P-fertilizer project in east Ethiopia; Maaden is developing the third P-fertilizer project with capacity of 3 million MT that would be partially put into operation in 2017 and into full-load operation in 2019. P-fertilizer production costs in Morocco and Saudi Arabia are obviously less than China, and besides, the main country (India) of destination of China’s P-fertilizer exports has less stocks, so China’s P-fertilizer exports in 2017 would see a tough situation and still would show the decreasing trend.
