Although the domestic demand was up to 9.98 million MT in 2015 from 8.12 million MT in 2011, but due to a greater increase in potash output and imports, the stocks were growing, and had reached 7.47 million MT by the end of 2015. So, 2016 potash imports decreased greatly to 4.29 million MT.

In 2016, potash output was 6.68 million MT, and the imports stood at 4.29 million MT. With the addition of ending stocks, the total supply was around 18.44 million MT, however the total demand was only 10.28 million MT, so ending stocks went up to 8.16 million MT. 2017 potash imports would decrease to 4 million MT.
