Supply-demand Balance of Sugar Market

Production:　the 2016/17 campaign already started. Based on the latest estimate from various regions, sugar production in this campaign should be 9.49 million tons due to predicted increase in Guangxi.

Import: alongside the investigation on sugar import by the Ministry of Commerce, the price gap between the domestic and international market narrows, there has been a considerable decline of sugar import. Sugar import is projected to be less than 2.5 million tons in 2016/17 along with the slight growth of domestic sugar production, release of the national reserve and shrinkage of margin from processing imported raw sugar.
