Operating Revenues of Listed Feed Companies in the First Quarter of 2018 Increased, but the Profits Generally Dropped

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2018-06-08 14:53:29China Agriculture Report Print In the first quarter of 2018, operating revenues of most listed feed enterprise groups increased year on year, and net profits dropped year on year.

Operating revenues of feed companies went up. On the one hand, due to an increase in material costs, feed mills raised selling prices; on the other hand, benefited from high concentration of industrial feed industry and active expansion of large feed companies, feed sales increased.

However, influenced by the loss of hog farming and a continuous drop in poultry farming margins in the first quarter of 2018, terminal farming sector can’t bear high-cost feed. The growth of selling prices of feed was less than that of material costs, shrinking production margins. Besides, the loss of hog and poultry farming also resulted in a great year-on-year decline in net profits of multi-business companies.
