1.1 Composite price of three main grains: in June, the composite price of China’s main grains (wheat, corn, and paddy) was RMB2295/ton, down 0.71% from the previous month, decreasing 0.27% year-on-year. Deducting the influence of changes in money value, the price actually decreased 0.85% month-on-month, and increased 2.28% year-on-year.
From January to June, 2018, the average price of three main grains (wheat, corn, and paddy) was RMB2346/ton, a year-on-year increase of 2.19%. Excluding the impact of monetary factor, the average price actually rose by 1.30%. From May 2018 to June 2019, the expected price will average RMB2303/ton, down 0.17% year-on-year.
1.2  Composite price of processed grain (flour, indica rice, and japonica): the wholesale price of processed grain was RMB3720/ton in June, down 0.59% month-on-month, up 2.01% year-on-year. Deducting the influence of currency, the wholesale price actually decreased 0.73 month-on-month and increased 3.18% year-on-year. From January to June, the average wholesale price was RMB3759/ton, a year-on-year growth of 2.01%; excluding the impact of monetary factor, the price actually rose by 1.11% year-on-year. From May 2018 to June 2019, the annual average price of processed grain will be RMB3731/ton, up 0.62% year-on-year; deducting the influence of currency, the price will increase 3.49% from the previous year.
1.3  Retail price of grain: in June, the retail price of three foods (rice, flour, and bean products) was RMB5717/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 0.01% and a year-on-year increase of 1.0%. From January to June, the average retail price reached RMB5724/ton, up 1.18% year-on-year. From May 2018 to June 2019, the retail price of processed grain will be RMB5720/ton, up 0.47% year-on-year.
1.4  Difference between wholesale price and retail price
In May, the price difference rate (retail price-wholesale price/wholesale price) of food was 53.69%, up 0.58% year-on-year, the second highest level in record. The price difference rate of China’s food was 30%-35% in 2011.
