Indonesia to be global largest raw sugar importer in 2012/13

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-01-06 10:45:42China Agriculture Report Print     Indonesia shall import 2.6 million tons raw sugar in 2013 to meet its rising domestic demand. This amount shall be 3% more than that in 2012.
 
    Indonesia is likely to become the global largest raw sugar importer in 2012/13 and its import should be 2.53 million tons in 2012. Its raw sugar production is forecasted to be 2.45 million tons in the year.
  
    The food authority of its Ministry of Industry unveiled the Indonesian Food and Beverage Association had applied to the Government for 2.97 million tons raw sugar import in 2013 so as to satisfy the 2.7 million tons raw sugar demand from the food and beverage processing industry.
