Russia Exempted All Wood Products from Export Customs Duties

    According to statistics from Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry, Russian government has approved 117 investment projects on wood processing within Russia (14 foreign-funded projects with investment of 126 billion rubles (US$4.1 billion)) with investment of 418.7 billion rubles (US$13.3 billion). 79.80 million Cubic meters logs is planned to be processed. For foreign enterprises, who invest wood processing projects in Russia, Russian government exempted all processing products (including sawn timber, plywood board, paper and pulp) and equipments not produced in Russia from export customs duties. Projects with investment of over 300 million rubles (US$10 million) can rent forest areas by half price and be free from bidding. The policy shows determination of Russian government to develop wood processing industry.
