Outlook of Agricultural Cooperatives’ Fertilizer Consumption in 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-01-14 11:22:53China Agriculture Report Print The government’s rural policy encourages the growth of agricultural cooperatives in 2013. More subsidy will be given to agricultural cooperatives. Specialized farming households are allowed to sign long-term land rent with other farming households to facilitate scale production. Farmers’ contracted land use right is allowed to be traded in the market. Farming mechanization is advocated to enhance land utilization. Nevertheless, large commercial enterprises are not encouraged to engage in farm production by renting large areas of farmland.

With the growth of agricultural cooperatives and the transfer of land use right, agricultural cooperatives will be able to bargain with fertilizer suppliers. As a result, the cost of fertilizer distribution can be reduced but fertilizer suppliers’ profit may be squeezed, too.
