Fertilizer Imports & Exports in 2012


Of the fertilizer imports in 2012, potassium chloride and NPK registered 6.342 million MT and 1.319 million MT respectively, accounting for 76% and 16% of the total respectively.
Of the fertilizer exports in 2012, urea, DAP and AS registered 6.948 million MT, 3.934 million MT and 2.153 million MT respectively, 38%, 22% and 12% of the total respectively. Urea and DAP exports stepped up in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Net fertilizer exports were 9.864 million MT in 2012, a drop of 9.4% on the year-on-year basis. Considering falling net exports and growing domestic production, fertilizer supply is predicted to be abundant in 2013.
